black licorice in plastic dreamless sleep
because sleep is close to death

a map of broken sleep heat steals the rain
shake off the weight of sleep and say it yellow leaves
after restless sleep the creaking needs of birds nearby
between both sides of sleep tossing and turning the sharpness of birds
